New Orleans Pelicans Coach Monty Williams half-jokingly said in his pregame meeting with the media that he will have the “full complement of nine or 10 players” tonight, in the regular season finale vs. Houston. Pelicans point guard Brian Roberts will be a game-time decision, after missing the past two games due to an ankle injury.
Incidentally, Roberts needs to make three more free throws to officially qualify for the NBA lead in free-throw percentage. Roberts has gone 122-for-129, a 94.6 percentage that leads all players by a wide margin. However, a player must make at least 125 to win the individual title.
Meanwhile, Houston (54-27) is expected to rest James Harden, Chandler Parsons and Jeremy Lin in Wednesday’s game, according to Houston Chronicle reporter Jonathan Feigen. The Rockets have already locked up the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference. They will face the Portland Trail Blazers in a first-round series that begins Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. on TNT.
